SYMPOSIUM 2023 AND 9th ECONEC GENERAL ASSEMBLY
The ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commissions(ECONEC), in line with its mandate to promote free, fair and credible elections in West Africa, is organizing its annual symposium and 9th General Assembly on the theme of institutionalizing learning processes to improve electoral management from November 20 to 21, 2023 in Abidjan, Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.
Organized into round-table discussions, the symposium focuses on specific themes designed to help Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs) undertake effective learning processes. The General Assembly, meanwhile, will enable ECONEC members to evaluate all their activities during 2023, and to elect a new steering committee.
The ECONEC 2023 symposium brings together the presidents of ECONEC member EMBs, the ECOWAS Commission, the secretaries-general of ECONEC member EMBs, thematic experts, civil society organizations and development partners involved in electoral assistance to EMBs, including UNDP, IFES, EISA and IDEA.
The ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commissions(ECONEC), is the umbrella organization for electoral management bodies (EMBs) in West Africa. Founded in February 2008 to promote free, fair and credible elections, the Network was inspired by the 1991 ECOWAS Declaration of Political Principles on Freedom, Peoples' Rights and Democratization.
